Dear Mr. Stone:
On September 20, 2014 I sent you a letter expressing my concerns about your decision to respond so quickly to a petition from approximately 600 Gabriolans to agree to a study to consider the feasibility of a fixed link between Vancouver Island and Gabriola and Mudge Islands.
Although I realize that you are a busy man, I would appreciate the courtesy of a reply. My concerns are outlined in my previous letter and once again I am asking for your response to these concerns.
Mr. Stone, I remain deeply concerned that you and your ministry agreed to undertake this study with no consultation with the Snuneymuxw First Nation, the city of Nanaimo, the Islands Trust, the Regional District of Nanaimo or residents of Mudge Island.
I would appreciate your response and your explanation of why these elected bodies were not consulted and why the study will not take into consideration any of the economic, environmental, social and cultural concerns – which are surely more important than the mere consideration of the feasibility of the physical construction of a bridge.
Thank you for your attention to this issue.
